The only thing to remember before accepting a Chanel modelling gig is that pretty soon you'll be dropped for the next English Rose on the block. Just like Keira Knightley has been bumped aside for Harry Potter ingenue, Emma Watson.

The French fashion house have offered Watson a £3 million deal to front the brand for the next 3 years after being satisfied that she has indeed morphed from plain Jane teenager with a slightly boring name, into 'beautiful young movie star'.

All of which must make the £500,000 they paid Keira for a year fronting the fragrance Coco Chanel look either a little insulting, or like Knightley was so up for the job that she forgot to haggle. Bad luck it is for Keira Knightley and good luck for Emma Watson - but the young Hogwarts witch will need to have her wits about her, the Chanel gig is a poisened chalice!
